Cleaning & maintenance of Laminate Flooring

  1. Wipe clean the floor by either vacuuming, sweeping or dust-mopping.
  2. Check for any remnants of abrasive particles i.e. sand or dirt to be removed.
  3. Use appropriate quality generic type of cleaning agents "spray on" variety sprayed either on a soft cloth or dry mop to remove stains.
  4. Use a clean pail filled with clean water.
  5. Use a clean mop, dip in the pail of clean water and rinse dry. (ensure the mop head is devoid of any sharp protruding nails attached that may damage floorboard)
  6. Mop the laminate floor in the normal "push up & down" manner. Never do any wet mopping.
  7. Rinse repeatedly the mop till relatively dry and repeat the mopping exercise accordingly.
  8. Wax, soap solutions, polish or abrasive materials should be avoided as it may damage or affect the top protection of the laminate floor.
  9. Do not apply any sanding or refinishing as the top protection layer will be sufficiently adequate and durable over the years.
  10. Protect high traffic areas of laminate floor from damages by placing mats at entrances.
  11. Furniture legs etc. should be protected using protective felt pads.
  12. Avoid dragging heavy furniture without base protectors at an acute angle across the laminate woodfloor.

Tips

  • Wipe off excessive water immediately.
  • Use rugs or mats at bathroom areas or entrances.
  • Move furniture by rolling them on mats orcarpets.
  • Close windows to avoid spillage or rain water.
  • Attend to pipe leakages if any at once
  • Leave water spillage over long period of time on the floor.
  • Avoid sediment particles be scratch across the floor.
  • Drag heavy furniture unnecessarily across the floor without appropriate base protectors.
